Alannah Andersen is the co-founder and co-director of Momentum Dance Maui.

Alannah began her dance training at the age of five with Maui Academy of Performing Arts (MAPA), where she studied for thirteen years. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington, in 2012 under the direction of Kathryn "Kitty" Daniels. During her time at Cornish, she choreographed original works for student showcases and performed with the Cornish Dance Theater. Her training has been shaped by renowned teachers and choreographers including Kitty Daniels, Wade Madsen, Deborah Wolf, Pat Hon, Twyla Tharp, and Iyun Ashani Harrison, among others.

Alannah began teaching dance in 2007 at MAPA and, while still in high school, taught performing arts camps throughout Maui and Tahiti with Game Kids Maui. In 2013, she returned to MAPA's faculty, where she taught for seven years. She also joined Maui Theatre in Lahaina, performing as a dancer and aerialist in 'Ulalena from 2013–2016 and serving as Dance Director for the Elvis-inspired production Burn'n Love from 2014–2016. Additionally, she performed with Ampersand Dance Company on Maui from 2013–2015.

Beyond dance, Alannah has a deep passion for fine art and design. In 2015, she founded Alannah Rae Calligraphy, a boutique calligraphy and design company serving Maui's wedding industry. Her work has been featured in publications including Vogue, Brides, and Sunset. She has also taught art at Haleakalā Waldorf High School. You might even spot one of her murals at the MDM studio.

Above all, Alannah considers her greatest roles to be those of wife and mother. She believes that dance education extends far beyond technique and strives to cultivate confidence, creativity, and leadership in every student she teaches.
