Jackie Dowsett

Jackie Dowsett is an island girl, born and raised on Oahu, before leaving to get her BFA in Dance Performance and Elementary Education at Southern Methodist University (SMU), in Dallas, TX and became a professional dancer soon after, living in NYC, LA, Las Vegas, and Miami. She retired from performing and came home to Hawaii after touring as a back up dancer for Cher in '14 and was blessed with a baby girl in early 2017 & second baby girl is on the way! Prior to the 6 years dancing for Cher, she “kicked it up” as a Radio City Rockette for 6 seasons, did multiple Musical Theater productions during her time in NYC, and also danced in numerous films, commercials and on TV in the first 3 seasons of Glee, when living in Los Angeles. Ms Jackie has been teaching dance and musical theater in her spare time since high school & taught classes and choreographed shows at her alma mater, Punahou School, as well as various other Oahu based dance/theater schools, including 24-7 Danceforce, Page Academy & Jackie also teaches and choreographs musicals for Ohana Arts summer intensive at UH Manoa. Early classical training on Oahu, was with Hawaii State Ballet and jazz & hip hop with 24-7 Danceforce. Since moving to Maui, Ms. Jackie enjoyed teaching for MAPA & started her own mobile dance school, Dancespiration Hawaii, bringing dance to different after school programs on the West Side, with most classes at Maui Prep. Jackie is thrilled to be teaching at MDM with other teachers who inspire her & looks forward to helping Maui dancers reach their goals & dreams!
