**Safety and Covid 19 Disclaimer
The opening of Momentum Dance Maui comes with stringent health, safety, and hygiene procedures in place. We are so excited to start dancing with you all and want to be able to continue dancing by doing our part in preventing the spread of Covid 19. All participants and parents are expected to follow CDC guidelines and the recommendations of health officials, and MDM's policies. Note that any public location where people are present provides an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 and we cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed during your visit. Our full list of procedures can be found here. This is an evolving document.
Please check back frequently for updates.
We currently rent studio space in two locations.
Wailuku studio- We do not have a lobby or accessible bathroom available to parents and guardians. Parents and guardians are urged to wait nearby or in their vehicles while their child’s class is in progress.
Paia studio- Students attending class will need to have a parent wait on the lanai to escort your child to the bathroom if needed. It is outside and down the hall and the teacher will be unable to leave the class to assist your child. Thank you for understanding.
Parents are expected to be prompt with drop-off and pick-up. MDM is not responsible for unsupervised children. Staff will facilitate bringing participants in and out of the studio in a socially distanced manner. We would love your help by letting the previous class exit the studio and waiting until the next group of dancers can enter. Time in between classes will be spent sanitizing. Instructors will not have time to address questions or concerns in person as we will be maximizing transition times to clean. However, we will be happy to chat over e-mail or phone and assist you. There will be a 5 minute grace period for late pick up, after which a $1/minute fee will be charged to your account.
Payments and Registration Fees
Tuition amounts are detailed on our website and via the parent portal. Payments can be made through the parent portal via ACH, CC or debit card. Checks or exact cash are accepted in person at one of our two locations. Any remaining balances will be charged to the card on file on the first day of a session. A fee of $25 will be charged for any unpaid fees or late payments. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to inquire about available payment plans. A one time, non-refundable, $35 (single student) $50 (family) registration fee will be charged upon annual enrollment. Adult classes have a $10 non-refundable registration fee. Registration fees are due upon enrollment for all new and returning students.
Please make every effort to attend your class and arrive on time as this is the best way to ensure you are growing and improving. If you have an arranged absence, you can inform the teacher or record the absence in the student/parent portal. Students arriving late must ask the teacher’s permission to join the class. Students will need to warm themselves up on the side and only join when they are warm so as to prevent injury. Instructors have the discretion to require a student to watch for the day if they are excessively late.
Make Up Policy
When a student misses their regularly scheduled class, they are welcome to find a make-up class of a similar style and level. Parents/students may schedule a make-up through the student/parent portal. Make ups are only permitted within the same session of the missed class and will not transfer to the next session. Tuition credits will not be issued for any missed classes.
Do not send your student to class if they are feeling ill or exhibiting any symptoms including any congestion or discharge from the nose (regardless of color), fever, cough or stomach ache. Children who appear or become ill in class will be isolated and parents will be called immediately to pick them up.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions and protocols, we cannot offer parent observation at this time. We will happily add intermittent observation days when restrictions are lifted. If you have a young dancer who needs help adjusting please see the teacher for accommodations.
Our Dress Code Policy is detailed here. Please pay close attention to the apparel, shoe, and hair requirements for each style of dance. If students are not dressed appropriately, they will receive one verbal warning. For future classes, they may be asked to sit and observe the class (while taking notes) if their lack of preparedness prohibits their ability to participate. Our dress code requirements reflect our desire to promote a class-act, distraction free environment that promotes the visibility of the lines of the body for the varying styles of dance.
Bullying and Harassment
MDM is a no tolerance zone for bullying and harassment including in person and online. Students who participate in this negative and hurtful behavior will be swiftly expelled from the studio. Please see our core values to learn how we are committed to creating a safe and positive environment.
MDM has permission to use dancers' likeness in advertisements, social media, news releases, and/or on the website. A release form will be administered upon registration. If you are opposed to use of your dancer's image, please us know in writing, via email, and we will gladly accommodate your request.
Medical Attention and Allergies
If your dancer has any medical or behavioral problems, conditions, or concerns or has ANY particular type of allergy, please let us know about the condition in detail. It is very important that we are aware of your child's needs PRIOR to their enrollment. In the event of a medical emergency, MDM staff will attempt to contact the parent/guardian of the dancer. If the parent/guardian cannot be reached in a timely manner or if the instructor deems the emergency serious or life threatening, MDM staff will call 911 to obtain
We encourage all of our students to complete the full season of dance as a mark of goal achievement; however, we understand mid-year withdrawals may be necessary. If you wish to remove your dancer from our programming, you must submit a 30-day withdrawal notice via email to email@example.com. The 30-day notice will go into effect per the date of the email received. We will not credit tuition or assume a student has withdrawn for lack of communication and/or excessive absences. During the 30-day notice period, you are still responsible for paying tuition/late fees, and the account will not be deactivated until it is at a zero balance. If a student does not withdraw from MDM but needs to drop a class, a tuition credit will be added to the account for future use.
Refunds are evaluated on a case by case basis. A $5 processing fee will be charged for refunds.
**Submission of any registration form indicates that these policies have been read and understood.**
